The cybersecurity landscape in 2025 reflects a constant increase in the sophistication and frequency of attacks. Accelerated digitalization, reliance on connected infrastructures, and the exponential growth of sensitive data have made many organizations strategic targets for cybercriminals. Understanding which sectors are most vulnerable and why allows businesses and public administrations to anticipate risks, prioritize defenses, and ensure business continuity against increasingly targeted threats.

In this context, 2025 data show that attacks are not evenly distributed: certain sectors concentrate most malicious activity, while others, although less visible, are not exempt from risk.

The 2024-2025 period marked a turning point in the cybersecurity landscape. The sustained increase in cyberattacks, along with greater technical sophistication, raised the risk level for public and private organizations worldwide. Accelerated digitalization, cloud dependency, and interconnection among vendors significantly expanded the attack surface.

Next, we analyze the data, incidents, and trends that shaped the cyberattack landscape during this period.

Edge computing has consolidated itself as one of the pillars of modern technology architectures. In an environment where data volumes continue to grow and applications require immediate responses, processing information close to its source has become an operational necessity.

Edge computing allows data produced by Internet of Things devices to be processed closer to the point where it is created, instead of being sent to distant data centers and cloud environments, which require traveling long distances, thus enabling immediate analysis.

Today, edge computing is part of hybrid architectures that combine cloud, on-premises infrastructure, and distributed processing, enabling greater flexibility and scalability across different sectors.

In 2025, organizations faced an unprecedented increase in digital attacks, from AI-powered phishing to supply chain breaches. These incidents not only compromise data and operations but also affect reputation and business continuity, regardless of company size.

For years, we have been hearing how quantum computing could change and revolutionize the world, and it seemed that Google might achieve this with its own quantum computer, Sycamore. But in July 2024, we saw these hopes shattered when a new technical proposal from Chinese scientists regarding conventional computers broke Sycamore's speed record.

Despite nearly 20 years having passed since the arrival of fiber optics as the most widespread method for internet connection, there are certain areas where this connection method is not viable. This makes it necessary to seek alternatives to these connections.

While Industry 4.0 has focused on driving technologies like IoT, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence over the past decade, the arrival of Industry 5.0 marks a new evolution in this approach.

The technology company ABB was attacked with ransomware in May 2023 by the Black Basta group, which operates as a ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS).

Bookmarks are an essential tool for organising your information, and keeping track of what you prioritise and where you want it to go. With so much information available in a couple of clicks, getting organised is becoming increasingly important. Did you accidentally delete your bookmarks?
